Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge entry to your PYO?
We charge $3 per person for entry to our PYO patch, whether you try a couple of strawberries or not.
Do I need to bring my own container for PYO?
We provide containers for you to pick into and take home at no extra cost. Only pay per kilo for what you pick.
Are you organic?
We are not certified organic but we are strongly against the use chemicals on any of our produce. We work with nature and fight the bad bugs with the good.
Do you sell to restaurants and cafes?
We would love to stock your business with fresh or frozen strawberries or our fresh vegetables. Get in touch.
Do you have EFTPOS?
We have eftpos facilities and do take cash but please be aware we do not have a credit option.
How far away is the farm from New Plymouth?
Whilst Kaimiro Farm sounds like it’s quite the distance from New Plymouth, it’s actually a short 15 minute drive away from town.
Do you take Christmas orders?
As our produce is weather dependent we sadly are not able to take orders at Christmas but we believe you don’t have to wait until Christmas Eve to get your hands on your Christmas produce. Did you know fruit freshly picked a few days before, and stored properly, will last you until Christmas quite easily provided you don’t eat them that is. Feel free to reach out to ask how to store your strawberries properly to make them last the distance. No need to queue, just to miss out, at Christmas again.
What flavour of real fruit ice-cream do you offer and is dairy-free an option?
At the moment we only offer strawberry real fruit ice-cream but are looking at expanding this as our business grows. We sell Little Liberty plant based scoop ice-cream and sorbet made out of our delicious strawberries.
What else is there to do around the area if we are coming the short distance from town, or from further away?
We are surrounded by so many great experiences. We are close to the National Park boundary if you decide to head up to the mountain. Volcano View cafe is close by and offer coffee and a delicious menu that creates mouthwatering dishes from seasonal produce to suit all tastes. It’s a great family friendly spot to take the kids as they have a great area for them to run around in.
You could also pick up some freshly picked flowers from Alfred Road Flower Farm from their farm stand on the way through. I mean who doesn’t love fresh flowers in their home.
The neighbours on the corner also run North Egmont Retreat where you can park up your motorhome or camp in an unpowered site for the night to give you easy access to the Mountain for your hiking adventures. They also sell organic meat, offer farm walks and sell amazing, natural skin care products.
Do you host educational visits for schools and nursing homes?
Absolutely we do! A big part of our farm is educating people on how to pick a ripe strawberry and to teach them how to grow their own at home. Part of the package is a cost per person which includes trying a couple of strawberries from the PYO patch, small take home pack of strawberries and a tub of real fruit ice-cream to enjoy on site.
